Who we are
ListenNHH was set up by Notting Hill Housing residents in North Kensington, Ladbroke Grove area, who are part of a strong community network reconnecting with the area's local history, standing up for ourselves and demanding social justice. We hold public meetings, produce information leaflets and have held weekly market stalls on the Portobello Road. Reaching out to people in the community not dissimilar to how Notting Hill Housing first came about.
Many of us have been Notting Hill Housing residents from the very beginning, paying our rents we bought into the values and basic concept of that the Trust had of providing safe, secure and genuinely affordable housing for the elderly, vulnerable and those in need.
What do we want
We are unhappy with the way NHHG has moved away from the original social housing concept that we paid into. We want to get rid of top-down management that sees a vast0 disconnect from residents and decision making. We want local collective decision making and co-design on all new developments. We want a trust run for the people and not for property developers. We do not want to be priced out of the communities we have contributed to and been a part of all of our lives.
We welcome and value your support, and have many ways you can get involved, you can add your name to our mailing list (bottom right of page), via our mail form, on social media (links bottom left of page), at our meetings and demos or on our weekly Portobello Market stall - where there is always lively banter and strong community spirit.
